Fourth-quarter flurry leads Farmington past Newmarket

FARMINGTON, NH – Farmington trailed by eight points entering the fourth quarter, but the Tigers unloaded 21 points in the final frame to come away with a 52-46 come-from-behind win over visiting Newmarket on Tuesday night.

Farmington held a three-point lead after one quarter of play, 13-10, before Newmarket had a big second quarter and took a 30-22 lead to the break. The two teams played even in the third, setting up the fourth-quarter dramatics for Farmington.

With the Tigers down three with under two minutes in the game, senior Noah Elwell and sophomore Josh Mosher connected on back-to-back triples to give FHS a three-point lead. Senior Demery Hadges later had a steal-and-score to put the game on ice for Farmington.

Elwell poured in a game-high 17 points to lead Farmington in the win, while Hadges added 10 and Lucas Watson and Keltin Moulton chipped in with eight points apiece.

Newmarket’s Jaron LaBranche led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, while Anthony Semprini added 12.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-4 on the season, while the Mules have now dropped back-to-back games and fall to 7-3.
