Alvirne knocks off top dog Bedford

HUDSON, NH – Bedford’s stint atop the Division I standings was short-lived as Alvirne made its presence known in D-I with a 72-67 victory over visiting Bedford on Friday night.

Going into the final frame tied at 51-51, Evan Bettencourt and Garrett Hall would combine for 16 points, giving the Broncos the push they needed to knock off Bedford.

Hall would finish with a team-high 23 points, with Bettencourt not too far behind, scoring 17. Sammy Dewitt added 13 points and Alex Valenzuela chipped in with 11.

The Bulldogs were paced by 20 from Wiji Dak, while Landon Ellsmore (18) and Jackson Hinton (11) also scored in double-figures.

Alvirne improves to 9-4 following the win, while Bedford falls to 11-3.
