DOVER, NH – No. 11 Holy Family used a second-quarter surge to upset No. 6 Portsmouth Christian Academy, 67-61, in first round action of the NHIAA Division IV State Tournament on Monday night.
The Griffins trailed 19-13 after one quarter of action, but used a 21-9 second quarter to build a six-point lead and that proved to be the difference. During the second period Holy Family’s Chase Paquette drilled four three-pointers to lead Holy Family.
Each team would score 33 points in the second-half, with the Griffins grabbing the six-point victory.
Jeremiah Guerrero scored a team-high 20 points to lead the way, while Enzo Yonkue added 19 and Paquette tallied 18 for Holy Family.
Zealand Marquis paced the scoring for the Eagles with 23, while Cai Summer added 17 of his own.
Holy Family will travel up north to play No. 3 Littleton in quarterfinal action on Thursday night.
PCA’s second comes to a close at 9-10.
