Crusaders cruise to semifinals

Top-seeded Littleton came to play in the quarterfinal round as the Crusaders jumped out to 24-4 lead over #8 Mascenic and never looked back, cruising to a 54-36 home win on Friday night.

Littleton advances to the semifinals where it will be a rematch of the 2022 semis as they take on #4 Woodsville.

CCA closes out Derryfield in the quarters

Second-seeded Concord Christian Academy trailed by one entering the fourth-quarter, but came from behind to defeat #7 Derryfield 61-57 in quarterfinal action of the NHIAA Division IV Boys Basketball State Championship on Friday night.

Brode Frink (21 points), Ethan Young (16) and Austin Spurr (14) led a balanced offensive attack for the Kingsmen. The Cougars were paced by a game-high 29 points from Jack Krasnof, while Alex Comire and Ethan Flanagan chipped in with 11 apiece.

CCA advances to the semifinals where it will be a rematch of last year’s semis as they take on #6 Holy Family.

CCA cruises past Belmont

#2 Concord Christian cruised to a 61-16 victory over visiting #15 Belmont on Wednesday night in first round play of the NHIAA Girls Basketball Division III State Tournament.

The Lady Kingsmen used a balanced scoring attack with four players in double-digits: Sarah Muir (14), Megan Muir (11), Emma Smith (10) and Lilli Carlile (10).

CCA advances to take on #10 Monadnock on Saturday.

Laconia rolls past Bishop Brady

Keaton Beck (24) and Kayden Roberts (20) combined for 44 points to lead Laconia to a 73-50 victory at Bishop Brady on Wednesday night in Concord.

Cade Weaver (13) and Michael Thresher (10) both netted double-figures for the Giants

The Sachems improve to 13-1 on the season, while Brady falls to 4-10.

Gilford soars to 17-0

Gilford improved to 17-0 on the season with a convincing 62-39 victory over Winnisquam on Tuesday night.

Jalen Reese led all scorers with 22 points for Gilford, while Isaiah Reese added 16 points. Anthony Boomer paced Winnisquam with 16 points.

The Golden Eagle victory was their 32nd straight win, dating back to Dec. 22, 2021. The loss snapped the Bears (10-4) four-game win streak.

Next up for Gilford is a trip to Belmont on Friday in the regular-season finale for both squads. The Golden Eagles had their toughest test of the season at home versus the Red Raiders back on Jan. 10 as they narrowly won, 61-58.

CCA snaps Conant’s 15-game win streak

In a battle between the top two teams in Division III, host Concord Christian avenged their only loss of the season by handing Conant their first loss of the year, 56-40, on Monday night.

The Kingsmen were led by a trio of double-figure scorers:  Emma Smith (game high 21 points), Lilli Carlile (19) and Sara Muir (13). Conant was paced by 18 points from Emma Tenters and 10 points from Brynn Rautiola. 

Both squads are now knotted atop the D-III standings with identical 15-1 marks.

Pinkerton remains perfect, downs Windham

The Pinkerton Astros improved to a flawless 13-0 on the season with a 76-45 victory at Windham on Friday night.

Jackson Marshall led all scorers with a game-high 24 points for the Astros, while EJ Johnston (12) and Anthony Chinn (10) chipped in with double figures as well. The Jaguars were paced by 11 points from Jack Koutrobis.

Bedford blows past Winnacunnet

Bedford dropped 32 points in the opening quarter and never looked back as the Bulldogs blew past visiting Winnacunnet, 82-51, on Tuesday night.

Luke Soden poured in a game-high 32 points for Bedford as the Bulldogs had 11 players score on the night. Winnacunnet was led by Tyson Khalil’s 15 points and 10 from Andrew Simmons.
