HUDSON, NH – Joel Gomez’s putback at the buzzer lifted No. 10 Manchester Memorial over No. 7 Alvirne 67-66 in Division I first round action Wednesday night.
The game was a tight one throughout that saw Memorial take a 34-31 lead to the locker room. The third quarter would feature scoring outbursts from both sides and the Crusaders took a four-point lead to the fourth.
The Broncos would start to surge back in the fourth, ultimately taking the lead thanks to a Garrett Hall three pointer with 7.5 seconds left that would give the home side a one-point advantage.
On the ensuing possession, Memorial’s Devin Lavallee would put up a floater that bounced off the back iron into the hands of Gomez who laid it in as time expired.
Bory Bory would finish with a team-high 21 points for the visitors, while Lavallee added 20 and Gomez tallied 12.
Hall and Sean Chipfunde both scored 16 points for the home side.
With the win, Memorial will take on No. 2 Portsmouth in quarterfinal action, while Alvirne wrap their season up with a 13-6 record.
