Slow second half sinks UNH versus Brown

DURHAM, N.H. — New Hampshire stayed within one possession for much of the first half but was held to 18 points after the break, falling 59–47 to Brown on Tuesday night on Friel Court at Lundholm Gymnasium.

UNH trailed 33–29 at halftime after shooting 37 percent from the field and making five three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. Jack Graham led the Wildcats with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including two threes. Belal El Shakery added 10 points and six rebounds, while Davide Poser supplied nine points on three made threes.

Offensively, the second half proved decisive. The Wildcats went 8-for-33 from the field (24 percent) and 2-for-15 from three, finishing at 30 percent shooting for the game. UNH made all four of its free throws and matched Brown with 34 total rebounds but committed 14 turnovers that resulted in 12 opposing points.

John Squire added three steals and four rebounds, and local guard Tyler Bike (Merrimack, N.H. / Trinity HS / Phillips Exeter) earned the start, contributing an assist and a rebound in 22 minutes.

The loss drops New Hampshire to 2–5 on the season.

UNH travels next to face Fairfield on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in Fairfield, Conn.

St. Anselm survives St. Michael’s in overtime

MANCHESTER, N.H. — After 40 minutes of evenly matched basketball, Saint Anselm took control in overtime and powered its way to an 85–78 victory over Saint Michael’s on Wednesday night at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Saint Anselm (2–1, 0–0 NE10) leaned on balanced scoring and timely execution, highlighted by Jovan Ristic, who finished with 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting along with seven rebounds. The Hawks also got a strong night from Josh Morissette (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy), who added 13 points and knocked down three threes.

Jack Medalie added 11 points and hit three threes of his own, while Edward Onyia provided 13 points and eight rebounds in an efficient outing inside. Will Davies contributed nine points and ten assists as Saint Anselm found answers throughout a game that featured 12 ties and 18 lead changes.

The Hawks elevated their play in overtime, shooting 60 percent from the floor and going 8-for-8 at the line. Key threes from Jack Medalie and Jakye Rainey helped Saint Anselm seize control early in the extra session, and the Hawks’ 49–34 rebounding advantage provided needed separation down the stretch.

Saint Anselm returns to action on Nov. 22 vs. Molloy College at 1:00 PM at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium in Manchester.

Phillips Exeter Academy pulls away from visiting Proctor

EXETER, NH – Proctor Academy held its own early, but host Phillips Exeter Academy pulled away to earn an 82-59 victory on Wednesday night.

Behind 13 first-half points from Brode Frink, the Hornets found themselves tied at 30-30. The Lions then went on a 22-2 run to blow the game open.

Phillips Exeter was led by 37 points from Notre Dame commit Ryder Frost, while Luke Soden (Bedford) and and Cade Furse chipped in with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Frink (CCA) finished with 15 points to lead Proctor and Chris Chol added 12.

With the win, the Lions improve to 11-0 on the season, while the Hornets fall to 5-7.
