Bedford hands Pinkerton first loss

In a battle between Division I heavyweights, Bedford handed visiting Pinkerton their first loss of the season, 91-76, on Friday night.

The Bulldogs were led by Luke Soden’s 34 points, while Aiden O’Connell (23) and Caden Brown (10) added double figures. The Astros had four players in double digits: Jackson Marshall (22), Anthony Chinn (20), Tyrone Chinn (18) and Sean Jenkins (11).

Bedford and Pinkerton are now tied atop the D-I standings with Nashua North with identical 14-1 records.

Farmington boys secure #3 seed

Behind a game-high 24 points from Jordan Berko, Farmington closed out visiting Newmarket, 58-41, on Friday night.

Brian Boisvert added 16 for the Tigers, while Jameson Senesombath led the Mules with 21.

Farmington ends the season with a 16-2 mark and will be the three seed for the upcoming Division IV tournament. Newmarket falls to 8-9 and closes out the season versus Derryfield on Tuesday.

Newmarket comes back to down Farmington

Newmarket trailed for 31 minutes, but took the lead when it counted and came away with a 35-33 victory at Farmington on Friday night in the season finale for both squads.

Annaya Beckles led the Mules with 10 points, while Makayla Lapanne (12) and Madi Ricker (10) both netted double digits for the Tigers. 

Newmarket improves 14-4 and Farmington falls to 12-6.

Portsmouth downs Goffstown, spoils Winterburn’s 1000-point night

Portsmouth went on the road and defeated Goffstown, 62-49, on Wednesday night in Division I girls action. Despite the loss, Ava Winterburn netted the 1,000th point of her career for the Grizzlies, becoming just the second female in school history and seventh overall to reach the milestone.

The Clippers were led by a trio of double-digit scorers: Margaret Montplaisir (16), Avery Romps (15) and Bridget Emery (14). The host Grizzlies were paced by a game-high 27 points from Winterburn.

With the win, Portsmouth improves to 12-1 on the season, while Goffstown falls to 10-3.

Great Bay knocks off defending national champs

The Great Bay Community College men’s team came from behind on Wednesday night to upend Southern Maine CC, 77-70, in South Portland, Maine, in Yankee Small College Conference action. SMCC is the USCAA defending national champions.

The Herons (15-7, 7-7) trailed 33-30 at the half, but turned it around over the final 20 minutes to claim their eighth victory in their last 10 games. Theodore Wolfe led four players in double digits with a double-double – 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kingsley Breen (Dover) added 15, Jesus Carpio notched 11 and Ethan Arnold (Wakefield) scored 10. Alex Tavares (Portsmouth) contributed nine points and nine boards.

Thomas Martinotti paced four SMCC (15-7, 7-4) players in double figures with 15 points.

Farmington flies past Franklin

Farmington featured four players in double-figures as the Tigers flew past visiting Franklin, 63-25, on Wednesday night.

Brian Boisvert (12), Jordan Berko (11), Shawn Murphy (10) and Matt Savoy (10) all netted double-digits to lead Farmington, while the Golden Tornadoes were paced by Zeke McCoy’s game-high 16 points.

The Tigers move to 15-2 on the season and Franklin falls to 7-9.

Tigers win sixth-straight

Behind a career-high 16 points from freshman Anna Cardinal, Farmington earned their sixth-straight win with a 47-32 victory over visiting Franklin on Wednesday night.

Madi Ricker chipped in with 10 for the Tigers, while the Golden Tornadoes were led by Kourtney Kaplan (12) and Lily Cornell (10).

Farmington improves to 12-5 on the season, while Franklin falls to 6-9.

Laconia rolls past Bishop Brady

Keaton Beck (24) and Kayden Roberts (20) combined for 44 points to lead Laconia to a 73-50 victory at Bishop Brady on Wednesday night in Concord.

Cade Weaver (13) and Michael Thresher (10) both netted double-figures for the Giants

The Sachems improve to 13-1 on the season, while Brady falls to 4-10.
