Bundy leads Stevens past Conant, records 1000th point

Kiley Bundy poured in a game-high 21 points, including the 1,000th of her career, to lead Stevens to a pivotal 40-36 victory at Conant on Saturday evening in Jaffrey.

The first half featured two lop-sided quarters in a match-up between two middle-of-the-pack Division III squads. The Cardinals came out hot, leading 14-3 after the 1st quarter, but the Orioles responded by winning the 2nd quarter 16-5. It was all knotted at 19 at the intermission.

The third quarter, which featured a three-pointer by Bundy to reach her elusive milestone, was deadlocked at 11-11. The two teams were tied at 30 entering the final frame.

Two triples by Bundy and one by A Pelton sealed the deal in the 4th for Stevens as they went on to win by four, 40-36.

Pelton joined Bundy in double-digits with 12 of her own for the Cardinals. The Orioles were paced by 16 points from H Manley and 10 from L Hayes.

With the win, the two squads are now tied 7th in the D-III standings with identical 8-5 marks.
