Reis drops 30, Portsmouth clips Goffstown

PORTSMOUTH, NH – Isaiah Reis poured in a game-high 30 points as Portsmouth ended the regular season with a hard-fought 67-63 victory over visiting Goffstown on Tuesday night.

The Clippers finish the regular season at 15-3, tied for first, and will be the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Division I state tournament. Goffstown falls to 9-9 and will be the No. 12 seed.

Derek Swartz added 22 for Portsmouth. The Grizzlies were led by 18 points from G Santos, 17 from O’Brien and 12 from I Santos.

Second-half eruption sends Belmont to D-III title game

BOW, NH – Top-seeded Belmont outscored No. 5 St. Thomas 45-20 in the second half to erase a nine-point halftime deficit and pull away in a come-from-behind semifinal victory on Wednesday night at Bow High School.

The Red Raiders advance to the Division III championship game and will take on No. 3 Kearsarge on Saturday at Keene State College at 4:00 PM.

Belmont seemingly had no answer for the reigning D-III Player of the Year Cole McClure in the first half as the sophomore pumped in 18 of his game-high 34 points. The Saints were in control as they led 33-24 at the break.

The Red Raiders came out fired up for the second half as they pounded the ball down low to senior big man Keegan Martinez who paced Belmont with 10 points in the quarter. Treshawn Ray banked in a deep three as time expired on the third quarter clock to give the Red Raiders a 45-41 lead and all the momentum they’d need to cruise to the victory.

Martinez finished with 23 points, while Ray added 22. Anthony Settineri finished with 11 points for the Saints.

With the victory, Belmont improves to 19-1 on the season, while STA’s season comes to an end at 15-4.

Undefeated St. Thomas punches ticket to D-III final

KINGSTON, NH – Top-seeded St. Thomas prevailed over No. 5 Monadnock 63-53 in Division III semifinal action on Tuesday night at Sanborn Regional High School.

The Saints led 24-21 at the half before outscoring the Huskies 41-32 in the second half.

Emma Torello added 12 of her game-high 20 points in the second half, while Emilie Von Der Linden added 18 of her own.

Bailee Soucia scored 18 to lead the way for the Huskies, with Shaylee Branon adding 15 to the tally.

STA, making its third appearance in the finals, will matchup against No. 2 Fall Mountain on Saturday at Keene State College at 1:00 pm.

Monadnock finish its season with a 15-5 record.

Second-half surge sends Trinity past Memorial

MANCHESTER, NH – Host Trinity outscored Manchester Memorial 36-19 in the second half to come away with a 66-46 victory in Division I action on Tuesday night.

The Pioneers were paced by a game-high 21 points from Torres, while O’Neil (15 points) and Cherbenneau (12) both netted double-digits.

Bory Bory and Devin Lavallee netted 10 points apiece for the Crusaders.

With the win, Trinity closes out the regular season at 14-4 in a three-way tie for third in the D-I standings. Memorial falls to 10-8 and is in a three-way tie for eighth.

Record-breaking shooting performance leads Fall Mountain past Stevens

KINGSTON, NH – No. 2 Fall Mountain drained an NHIAA Girls Division III postseason record 11 threes to down No. 14 Stevens 61-24 in semifinal action on Tuesday night at Sanborn Regional High School.

The Wildcats broke a record that was held by Newport and White Mountains who each hit 10 in 2006 and 2013, respectively.

Clara Stewart was at the forefront of the scoring for the Wildcats, adding 15 points, including four from beyond the arc. Sophia Grillone (12), Abby Jarvis (11) and Kelsey Fillion (10) rounded out the double-digit scoring, all while combining for seven from distance.

Lily Eagen led the way for Stevens with nine points.

Fall Mountain, making its 14th appearance in the state final, will matchup against No. 1 Saint Thomas at Keene State College on Saturday at 1 pm.

Stevens ends its season 8-11 record after a hard fought route to the final four.

Alvirne closes regular-season with big win at Windham

WINDHAM, NH – In a matchup of two teams fighting to solidify their positions in the Division I playoffs, Alvirne was able to pull out a gritty 53-51 road win against Windham on Tuesday night.

Andrew Deely was the leading scorer for the Broncos netting a game-high 17. The Jaguars saw Tyler Jordan score 14 points and Sam Roidoulis contribute 13.

Windham finishes its regular season at 10-8 and will be the No. 9 seed for the upcoming D-I tourney, while Alvirne finishes at 13-5 clinching the seventh seed.

Bedford blows past Spaulding

BEDFORD, NH – Bedford closed out the regular season with an 84-60 win over visiting Spaulding on Tuesday night, clinching the top seed for the upcoming Division I tournament in the process.

The Bulldogs were paced by five players in double figures: Jack Hinton (20), Logan O’Connell (15), Luke O’Connell (10), Connor O’Rourke (16) and Wiji Dak (14).

Spaulding was paced by 17 points apiece from Marcel Rose and Nate Sanchez Martinez and 10 from Kyran Jean Pierre

With the win, Bedford improves to 15-3, while Spaulding’s season comes to a close at 6-12.

Groveton soars past Lin-Wood in first round

GROVETON, NH – No. 3 Groveton started hot, scoring 41 first-half points, en route to a 72-32 win over No. 14 Lin-Wood in Division IV first round action on Tuesday night.

The Eagles dominated the opening period, jumping out to a 23-2 lead early and never looked back. Delaney Whiting paced the scoring with 16, including 13 in the first half, while Kandrah Savage and Julia Chappell both added double-digit scoring, with 11 and 10, respectively.

Kiley Clermont led the Lumberjacks with a game-high 20 points.

Groveton will host No. 6 Portsmouth Christian in second round action on Friday night.

Lin-Wood its their season with a 6-12 record.

Dover downs Pinkerton in regular-season finale

DERRY, NH – Dover traveled to Derry and beat Pinkerton on Tuesday night, 77-67.

In what was a tightly contested matchup, the visiting Green Wave led wire to wire.

Dover was led by Julian Black who had 17 points, with Nate MacGregor (12), Yavier Morales (12), Michael Gorham (10) and Lochlan Kibbie (10) all contributing double-figure scoring.

Parker Bienvenue-Cernuda (20), Ryder Hawkes (17), and Josh Phanor (12) paced the Astros. Pinkerton finishes their season at 5-13 while Dover ends at 7-11.

Long-ball leads Coe-Brown past Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, NH – Coe-Brown knocked down 13 three-pointers en route to a 61-24 victory at Plymouth on Tuesday night.

Emma LaPierre was scorching hot out of the gate as she knocked down four triples in the opening stanza to give the Bears a 14-4 lead and they never looked back.

Lapierre led all scorers with 16 points, while Hannah Meehan netted 13 with three trifectas of her own.

With the win, Coe-Brown ends the regular season with an 8-10 mark and in a four-way tie for 10th in the Division II standings. Plymouth finishes the regular-season at 7-11.
