Bedford closes out Bishop Guertin

BEDFORD, NH – Bedford poured in 24 fourth-quarter points to earn a 67-55 victory against visiting Bishop Guertin on Friday night.

Logan O’Connell scored a team high 19 points for the Bulldogs, while Connor O’Rourke and Wiji Dak both had 12.

The Cardinals box score was highlighted by Eli Youssef who scored a game-high 23 points.

With the win, Bedford moves to 2-1, while BG drops to 1-2.

Bedfords blows past Bishop Guertin

BEDFORD, NH – The Bedford Bulldogs earned their third straight victory by 30+ points as they defeated visiting Bishop Guertin, 64-32, Friday night.

The Bulldogs, headlined by Kate Allard (16 points) and Sarah Muir (14), had eight total scorers in the win.

Kayden Rioux had her season-high with 18 points to lead the Cardinals.

With the win, Bedford stays undefeated at 3-0, while BG suffers their first loss and falls to 1-1.

Bishop Guertin hangs on to down Concord Christian Academy

CONCORD, NH – Bishop Guertin was held to just three fourth-quarter points, but held on for a 38-36 win at Concord Christian Academy in the season opener for both squads on Friday night.

Maddi Long led BG with 11 points, while Emma Smith paced CCA with a game-high 15 points.

Bishop Guertin knocks off Manchester Memorial

The Bishop Guertin boys went on the road and pulled of an upset in Division I as they won at Manchester Memorial on Friday night, 58-49.

The Cardinals were led by 12 points from Connor McGowan and Matt Chau, while Eli Youssef and Sam Woodward added 10. The Crusaders were paced by 18 opints from Bory Bory and 11 from Christian Bilolo.

With the win, BG improves to 2-6, while Memorial falls to 5-2.

Concord Christian rallies late to defeat Bishop Guertin in OT

Trailing by seven points entering the fourth quarter, Division II Concord Christian rallied to force overtime on the road and defeat D-I Bishop Guertin, 57-51, on Tuesday night in Nashua.

CCA’s Emma Smith was the key to the late surge by the Kingsmen as she netted 10 points in the 4th quarter and seven in the extra frame and led all scorers with a game-high 20 points. Kate Smith and Lilli Carlile added 13 points apiece, while Kayden Rioux chipped in with 10 for CCA. The Cardinals were paced by 17 points from Thalia Drapeau.

With the win, the Kingsmen remain perfect on the season (6-0) and sit tied atop the D-II standings with Oyster River. The Cardinals fall to 1-4 in defeat.

Strong first half leads Lancers past Cardinals

Londonderry outscored visiting Bishop Guertin 17-4 in the first quarter and 11-3 in the second to roll to a 60-42 win on Saturday night.

The Lancers were led by a game-high 20 points from Sammie Sullivan, while Gemma Murray (18 points) and Brooke Eacrett (10) netted double figures as well. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Maggie Gallagher (13) and Thalia Drapeau (10).

With the win, Londonderry improves to 4-0 on the season, while Bishop Guertin falls to 1-2.

Bishop Guertin rallies late to capture back-to-back state titles

DURHAM – Top-seeded Bishop Guertin used a 23-point fourth quarter to erase a 10-point deficit and capture back-to-back NHIAA Division I Girls Basketball State Championships with a 51-45 victory over No. 3 Bedford on Sunday at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

The Cardinals (21-0) started slow as they trailed by seven after one, by nine at the half and by 10 entering the fourth. BG put the clamps on the Bulldogs (19-3) in the final frame as they held Bedford to 2-10 shooting from the field.

Free throw shooting played a big factor as the Bulldogs were just 7-22 (31.8%) from the charity stripe, while Guertin was 19-25 (76.0%), including 13-17 (76.5%) in the fourth quarter alone.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was Brooke Paquette with a game-high 24 points. Meghan Stack added 10 of her own for BG. Bedford was paced by 15 apiece from Kate Allard and Lana McCarthy, who also pulled down 14 rebounds.

For the Cardinals, the title marks the seventh in school history and the second straight.

Bishop Guertin punches ticket to title game

Top-seeded Bishop Guertin defeated No. 4 Goffstown, 67-49, in the semifinal round of the NHIAA Division I Girls Basketball State Tournament on Tuesday night at Londonderry High School. The Cardinals advance to the title game where they will take on No. 3 Bedford on Sunday at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

BG jumped out to a quick 21-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Cardinals were led by a game-high 25 points from Meghan Stack, while Hannah Lynch (14 points) and Brooke Paquette (12) netted double-figures as well.

The Grizzlies were paced by Ava Winterburn’s 24 points and 10 fro Ava Ruggiero.

Bishop Guertin downs Bedford, remains perfect

In a battle between two of the top teams in Division I, Bishop Guertin went on the road and came away with a pivotal 73-66 win over Bedford on Friday night. With the victory, the Cardinals improve to a perfect 16-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 14-2.
