Perfection: Undefeated Bedford wins back-to-back D-I titles

DURHAM, NH – Top-seeded Bedford completed its 22-0 perfect season and earned back-to-back NHIAA Division I state championships with a 50-44 victory over No. 2 Londonderry on Saturday evening at Lundholm Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs, who led wire-to-wire, pushed their advantage to as many as 12 points, 34-22, with 3:36 to go in the third quarter. The Lancers responded with a 15-6 run trim the Bedford cushion to three, 40-37, with 5:21 left, but Londonderry would get no closer. The Bulldogs buried eight free throws in the final 4:15 to seal the deal.

To start the game, the two teams traded buckets with Bedford leading 12-10 after the first eight minutes. Kate Allard scored seven second-quarter points to give the Bulldogs a 25-18 lead going into half.

Samantha Sullivan scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the second-half. Allard finished with a team-high 12 while Annie Zink added 11. Brooke Eacrett scored 11 of her own to go with Sullivan’s 20.

Strong second half sends Londonderry past Windham to D-I final

EXETER, NH – No. 2 Londonderry used a 35-18 second half to defeat No. 3 Windham, 51-36, in semifinal action on Monday night at Exeter High School.

The Jaguars owned a tight 18-16 lead at the half before the Lancers caught fire in the second half, outscoring the third seed 35-18 to punch their ticket to the final.

Sammie Sullivan came up big for Londonderry, scoring 16 of her game-high 28 in the second half. Running-mate Gemma Murray added 11 in the victory.

Gabby Gulifa headlined the scoring for Windham with 14 and Rileigh Finneran added 12 of her own.

Londonderry will take on undefeated top seed Bedford in the finals at 4:00 PM on Saturday at UNH.

Windham ends its season with an 18-3 record.

Londonderry closes out Salem to advance to semis

LONDONDERRY, NH – Clinging to a three-point lead heading to the fourth quarter, No. 2 Londonderry outscored No. 7 Salem 14-3 in the final frame to come away with a 55-41 Division I quarterfinal victory on Thursday night.

The Lancers were led by a game-high 23 points from Sammie Sullivan with Brooke Eacrett adding 13 points. The Blue Devils were paced by 16 points from Lindsay Goetz.

Londonderry advances to the semifinals to take on No. 3 Windham on Monday at Exeter High School at 6:00 p.m.

Sullivan’s 27 leads Londonderry past South in first round

LONDONDERRY – Sammie Sullivan poured in a game-high 27 points to lead No. 2 Londonderry past No. 15 Nashua South, 73-29, in first round action of the NHIAA Division I state tournament on Monday night.

The Lancers advance to the semifinals to take on No. 7 Salem on Thursday night.

Londonderry opened the game with a 21-6 first quarter and never looked back. Joining Sullivan in double digits for the Lancers was Mia Giampa (15), Gemma Murray (13) and Brooke Eacrett (11).

South was paced by 15 points from Jaynilies De Jesus and 10 from Addison Borden.

Top-seeded Great Bay wins YSCC quarterfinal

PORTSMOUTH, NH – Theo Wolfe poured in a game-high 31 points to lead top-seeded Great Bay to a 103-74 victory over visiting Paul Smith College in the quarterfinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Mpore Semuhoza also netted 21 points for the Herons and Ethan Arnold (Kingswood) and Ethan May (Londonderry) scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Great Bay advances to the semifinals to take on No. 4 Albany Pharmacy on Saturday, March 1 at Southern Maine Community College.

Bedford closes out Londonderry, wins battle of the unbeatens

BEDFORD, NH – In a battle of Division I unbeatens, host Bedford came-from-behind to defeat Londonderry, 60-53, on Friday night.

In a very tough battle throughout, the Lancers saw themselves up 48-41 on the road at the end of the third quarter. Later, with under four minutes remaining, Bedford pulled it to within two points and was able to tie it with just three minutes left in the game.

The Bulldogs used a 19-5 fourth quarter to catapult themselves to a win, finishing their second-consecutive undefeated regular-season with a perfect 18-0 record. They were led with 17 points apiece from both Kate Allard and Annie Zink along with 10 from Sarah Muir.

The Lancers, who saw Gemma Murray and Sammie Sullivan score 20 & 12 respectively, fall to just 16-1, with a chance to finish their season in the win column on Tuesday at Keene.

Strong second half sends Trinity past Londonderry

LONDONDERRY, NH – Trinity outscored host Londonderry by 14 points in the second half to earn a 69-61 victory on Friday night.

The Pioneers were paced by 15 points apiece by Jordan Torres and Collin Charbeneau and Xander McBournie added 12 points.

Leading the way for the Lancers was Nate Marshall with a game-high 17 points. Mason Paquette and Kiet Totten added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

With the win, Trinity improves to 11-4 on the season and is in a three-way tie for fourth in the Division I standings. Londonderry falls to 8-7 and is in a three-way tie of their own for ninth.

Clippers sail past Lancers

Portsmouth, NH – Portsmouth connected on nine threes en route to a 75-52 victory over visiting Londonderry on Tuesday night.

For the Clippers, Derek Swartz lead the way with a team-high 18, while Isaiah Reis added 17 of his own. Ryan Swartz (13) and Finn McCauley (11) also scored in double-figures.

On the Lancers side, Mason Paquette lead the way with a game-high 27, including four from beyond the arc.

Portsmouth improves to 12-2 following the win, while Londonderry fall to 8-6.

Anderson grabs 1000th board, Londonderry tops Portsmouth

LONDONDERRY, NH – Reagan Anderson grabbed the 1000th rebound of her career as Londonderry remains unbeaten following a 44-32 against visiting Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

Gemma Murray added a game-high 21 for the Lancers, while Sammie Sullivan added 10 of her own.

The Clippers were paced by 19 points from Bridget Emery.

With the win, Londonderry improves to 12-0, while Portsmouth drops to 8-6.
