Bedford closes out Exeter to advance to D-I title game

ROCHESTER, NH – Top-seeded Bedford scored 18 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 58-55 win over No. 5 Exeter in Division I semifinal action on Wednesday night at the Rochester Recreation Center.

The two sides traded buckets throughout the first half before the Bulldogs took a 30-27 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Hawks would bring the momentum into the fourth after a 16-point third quarter that gave them a 43-40 lead.

Logan O’Connell and Landon Ellsmore would break out in the fourth, combining to score 13 of Bedford’s 18 points in the quarter.

O’Connell would finish with a game-high 21 while Ellsmore finished with eight. Freshman Wiji Dak also added double-digit scoring with 12.

Exeter was paced by 17 from Nikolas Greco, while Nate McNeff (16) and Jack Thibodeau (11) rounded out the double-digit scoring.

Bedford will take on No. 6 Keene in the championship on Sunday at UNH at 4:00 p.m.

Exeter finishes its season with a 16-5 record.

No. 5 Exeter knocks off No. 4 Nashua South

NASHUA, NH – Fifth-seeded Exeter went on the road and defeated No. 4 Nashua South, 60-44, on Saturday in quarterfinal action of the Division I state tournament.

The Blue Hawks jumped out to a 16-8 lead after one quarter of play and took a 25-20 lead to the locker room. Exeter would outscore the host Panthers 35-24 in the second half to come away with the victory.

Nate McNuff led all scorers with a game-high 21 points for Exeter, while Nikolas Greco (19) and Tyler Ream (11) netted double-digits as well. South was paced by Josh Caruso’s 15 points.

The Blue Hawks move on to the state semifinals and will take on top-seeded Bedford on Wednesday at the Rochester Recreation Center at 7:30 p.m.

Bedford blows past Exeter to Division I semifinals

BEDFORD, NH – Top-seeded Bedford raced out to a 47-22 lead at the half and never looked back as the Bulldogs downed No. 9 Exeter, 85-39, in quarterfinal action of the Division I state tourney on Thursday night.

Led by a game-high 23 points from Kate Allard, Bedford put eight players in the scoring column. Annie Zink (17), Mel McCarthy (16) and Sara Muir (13) all netted double-digits for the Bulldogs as well.

The Blue Hawks were led by 10 points from Karli Scherpf.

Bedford advances to the semifinals to take on No. 4 Concord Christian Academy on Monday at Exeter High School at 8:00 p.m.

Exeter soars past Goffstown to D-I quarters

EXETER, NH – No. 5 Exeter started and ended hot en route to an 82-63 win over No. 12 Goffstown in Division I first round action on Wednesday night.

Nate McNeff scored 11 points in the opening frame, combining with running-mate Nikolas Greco to score 19 in the period.

The Grizzlies would hang tough throughout, cutting the home advantage to seven in the fourth quarter, but the 24 points in the quarter by the Blue Hawks proved to be too much.

McNeff would finish with a game-high 24, while Greco added 22. Tyler Ream (17) and Jack Thibodeau (12) would combine for 29 points as well.

Tyler Dionne paced the scoring with 14 points, while Noah Durham added 12 for the Grizzlies.

Exeter will go on the road to take on No. 4 Nashua South in quarterfinal action on Saturday. Goffstown ends its season with a 9-10 record.

Exeter comes from behind to knock off Dover

DOVER, NH – No. 9 Exeter erased a 23-9 first-quarter deficit and upset No. 8 Dover, 65-61, on Monday night in first round action of the Division I state tournament.

Dover jumped to a quick 23-9 lead after one quarter of play and later led 36-19 at the half. Exeter would then win the third quarter 26-15 and closed out the fourth, 20-10, to earn the victory.

The Blue Hawks were led by 20 points by Nicole Melick, 12 from Anna McGuinness and 11 from Emma Gillis. A Littlefield poured in a game-high 26 points to pace the Green Wave.

Exeter advances to the quarterfinal round to take on top-seeded Bedford on Thursday.

Exeter downs rival Winnacunnet

EXETER, NH – Exeter defeated rival Winnacunnet, 64-58, on Friday night in Division I action.

Nate McNeff paced the Blue Hawks scoring with 23 points, while Nik Greco added 16 of his own. 

Christian Cartier tallied a team-high 22 for the Warriors, nailing five from downtown. 

Exeter picks up their seventh straight win in the rivalry, moving to 9-3 on the season. Winnacunnet drops to 7-4 after the loss.

Exeter cruises past Winnacunnet

EXETER, NH – Exeter protected its home court with a 71-35 victory over visiting Winnacunnet on Friday night. The Blue Hawks won the first quarter 15-5 and never looked back. 

Karli Scherpf led the way for EHS with 20 points. She was joined by a trio of double digit scorers: Anna McGuiness (11), Lexy Rogers (10) and Nicole Melick (10). The Blue Hawks improve to 6-5 on the season. 

The Warriors were paced by Kaila Roy with a game high 22 points. They now sit at 2-9 for the season.

Bedford starts strong, wins at Exeter

EXETER, NH – Visiting Bedford jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first half at Epping and won by that margin, 72-58, on Thursday night.

Logan O’Connell led the Bulldogs with a team-high 22 points, while Connor O’Rourke added 15 and Landon Ellsmore and Jack Hinton chipped in with 10 points apiece.

The Blue Hawks were paced by a game-high 24 points from Nate McNeff and 11 from Tyler Ream. 

With the win, Bedford improves to 6-2 on the season, while Exeter falls to 5-3.

Exeter downs Nashua North

EXETER, NH – The Exeter Blue Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season with a 59-51 victory over visiting Nashua North on Tuesday night.

Emma Gillis led the way for Exeter with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Karli Scherpf (14), Lexy Rogers (12) and Anna McGuinness (10) also netted double-digits.

With the win, Exeter has now won back-to-back games and four of its last five. The Titans have a two-game win streak halted and fall to 2-4.
