Portsmouth downs Goffstown, spoils Winterburn’s 1000-point night

Portsmouth went on the road and defeated Goffstown, 62-49, on Wednesday night in Division I girls action. Despite the loss, Ava Winterburn netted the 1,000th point of her career for the Grizzlies, becoming just the second female in school history and seventh overall to reach the milestone.

The Clippers were led by a trio of double-digit scorers: Margaret Montplaisir (16), Avery Romps (15) and Bridget Emery (14). The host Grizzlies were paced by a game-high 27 points from Winterburn.

With the win, Portsmouth improves to 12-1 on the season, while Goffstown falls to 10-3.

Nashua South comes-from-behind at Goffstown

Nashua South got off to a slow 18-5 start after one quarter, but the Purple Panthers chipped away at the Grizzlies lead and came away with a hard-fought 57-53 victory at Goffstown on Tuesday night.

Zac Castonguay (16 points), Josh Caruso (15) and Denis Wainaina (10) all scored in double-digits for South, who improves to 9-2 on the season. The Grizzlies were led by 18 points from Cam Hujsak, all coming from behind the arc, as Goffstown falls to 4-7.

Malley’s buzzer beater lifts Goffstown over Keene

Colin Malley knocked down a three-pointer to force overtime and later buried a game-winning triple as time expired to give host Goffstown a thrilling 70-67 overtime victory over Keene on Tuesday night.

Malley connected on six triples on the night en route to 21 points to pace the Grizzlies in the victory, while teammates Cam Hujsak (16), Tommy Patterson (15) and Ryan Strand (13) all netted double figures as well.

Keene was led by a game-high 22 points from Lucas Malay and Ben Hertzler added 14 for the Black Birds.

Goffstown improves to 4-5 on the season, while Keene falls to 2-7.

Soden’s 32 leads Bedford past Goffstown

Behind a game-high 32 points from Luke Soden, Bedford cruised to a 73-38 victory over visiting Goffstown on Friday night. Austin Kasyjanski (10) and Aiden O’Connell (11) netted double figures as well for the Bulldogs. The Grizzlies were paced by 10 points apiece from Cam Hujsak and Noah Durham

Bedford improves to 8-1 on the season, while Goffstown falls to 3-5.

Bedford comes from behind, remains perfect

Goffstown used a 19-point second quarter to take a 10-point lead to the locker room, 35-25, but the undefeated Bedford Bulldogs held the Grizzlies to just 16 second-half points and earned a 64-51 come-from-behind road win on Friday night. 

Bedford improves to a perfect 9-0 on the season, while Goffstown falls to 7-2. The Bulldogs were paced by a game-high 26 points from Kate Allard, 19 from Lana McCarthy and 10 from Sydney Grogan. Ava Winterburn led Goffstown with 18, while Maggie Sasso added 12.

Goffstown comes-from-behind to down Spaulding

Trailing by five at the break, 32-27, Goffstown outscored Spaulding 42-30 in the second half to earn a come-from-behind victory over the winless Red Raiders on Tuesday night.

The Grizzlies were 16 points from Cam Hujsak, 15 from Ryan Strand and 13 from Noah Durham. Spaulding was paced by a game-high 26 points from Zander Walbridge, including six threes. Hunter Trueman (16) and Paul Butler (12) both netted double figures as well for the Red Raiders.

Goffstown snapped a three-game skid with the victory to improve to 3-4 on the season, while Spaulding falls to 0-7.

Goffstown wins sixth straight

The Goffstown girls pushed their win streak to six games with a 64-38 victory over visiting Nashua North on Friday night.

The Grizzlies were led by Ava Winterburn’s game-high 25 points, including 14 in the first quarter. The Titans were paced by 12 from Aiden Walker and 10 from Natalee McInerney.

Concord earns tough road win at Goffstown

The Concord Crimson Tide went on the road to earn a tough victory at Goffstown on Tuesday night, 50-45. After starting the season 0-3, the Tide have reeled off three-straight wins to even their record at 3-3, while the Grizzlies fall to 2-3. 

It was a back-and-forth affair all night as the game was knotted at 23-23 at the half. Concord then led 35-33 after three.

Brett Tuttle tallied a game-high 17 points for Concord, while teammate Japhet Nduwayo added 15, including four three-pointers. The Grizzlies were paced by 10 points from Ryan Strand.
