Londonderry closes out Salem to advance to semis

LONDONDERRY, NH – Clinging to a three-point lead heading to the fourth quarter, No. 2 Londonderry outscored No. 7 Salem 14-3 in the final frame to come away with a 55-41 Division I quarterfinal victory on Thursday night.

The Lancers were led by a game-high 23 points from Sammie Sullivan with Brooke Eacrett adding 13 points. The Blue Devils were paced by 16 points from Lindsay Goetz.

Londonderry advances to the semifinals to take on No. 3 Windham on Monday at Exeter High School at 6:00 p.m.

Portsmouth overcomes slow start to down Salem in D-I first round

PORTSMOUTH, NH – Freshman Damien Sanu unloaded a season-high 25 points to help No. 2 Portsmouth down No. 15 Salem 74-60 on Wednesday night in Division I first-round action.

The Clippers stumbled out the gates, trailing 16-8 after the first quarter.

Sanu, Isaiah Reis and Finn McCauley would combine to score 19 of 21 of the Clippers’ second-quarter points to right the ship and allow the hosts to take a 29-28 lead into half.

The third quarter would belong to Anthony Ferola who scored 11 of his 14 points in the eight-minute period.

All five starters would finish in double-figures for Portsmouth, with Reis adding 13 while Derek Swartz and McCauley added 10 apiece. The Clippers were playing without Ryan Swartz.

Brock James poured in a game-high 29 points, while Carlos Cruz added 12 for the Blue Devils.

Portsmouth will host No. 10 Manchester Memorial in quarterfinal action on Saturday.

Salem finishes its season with a 7-12 record.

Salem stymies Alvirne in first half, moves to quarters

SALEM, NH – No. 7 Salem held No. 10 Alvirne to just nine first-half points as the Blue Devils cruised to a 43-29 victory in the first round of the Division I state tournament on Monday night.

Salem advances to the quarterfinal round to take on No. 2 Londonderry on Thursday night.

Lindsay Goetz paced Salem with 13 points, while Julie Adams led the way for Alvirne with 11 points.

Portsmouth flies past Salem, moves into first place

SALEM, NH – Portsmouth jumped out to a 27-7 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back as the Clippers defeated Salem, 80-43, on Friday night.

Isaiah Reis led all scorers with a game-high 19 points and Derek Swartz (17), McCauley (13) and Ferola (10) all netted double-digits as well for Portsmouth.

The Blue Devils were paced by eight points from Brady Sacco.

With the win, the Clippers move to 11-2 and now sit atop the Division I standings. Salem falls to 4-9.

Battle of Unbeatens: Londonderry tops Salem

SALEM, NH – Londonderry went on the road and handed Salem their first loss of the season, 65-43, in a battle between unbeaten squads on Friday night.

In the win the Lancers were led by Gemma Murray with 23 points and Sammie Sullivan with 22. The Blue Devils were paced by Makayla Burns with 13 followed by Lindsay Goetz with 12.

Salem falls to 5-1, while Londonderry advances to 4-0.

Bilolo leads Manchester Memorial past Salem

MANCHESTER, NH – Christian Bilolo poured in a game-high 30 points to lead Manchester Memorial to an 84-71 come-from-behind victory over visiting Salem on Friday night.

The Blue Devils dropped 29 points in the first quarter of play and led by 10 points. The Crusaders would battle back in the second frame to tie the game at the half, 40-40.

Memorial then unloaded with a 31 third-quarter points to blow the game open and hold on for the victory.

Jack Brooks and Jake Ornelas added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Crusaders. Salem was paced by 28 points from Brock James, 14 from Cooper Keenan and 12 by Carlos Cruz.

With the win, Memorial improves to 2-2 on the season, while Salem falls to 1-3.

Salem sails past Goffstown

GOFFSTOWN, NH – Salem went on the road and improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominant 59-17 victory at Goffstown on Thursday night.

The Blue Devils were led by 17 points from Lindsay Goetz, while Lily George also scored in double-digits with 13 points, 12 of which came in the first quarter.

The Grizzlies fall to 0-3 to start the year.

NHIAA preseason heats up

Just like the unseasonably warm weather, the 2024-25 NHIAA season is beginning to heat up as well.

Yesterday marked the first practice date for Division IV squads with many holding tryouts around the state. D-III follows suit next week (Nov. 25) with D-I & D-II just seven days later as well (Dec. 2).

The D-IV season official tips off with 2024-25 opening night being held on Friday, Dec. 6, while Divisions I, II & III throw it up on Dec. 13.

Before we get to the regular-season slate, however, there are six official NHIAA sanctioned preseason jamborees on the docket. Check out the events below as this will be your first chance to see these squads in action…

Bedford blows past Salem

Bedford put a bow on its undefeated regular season with an 82-32 win over visiting Salem on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs clinch the #1 seed for the upcoming Division I state tournament which gets underway on Tuesday.

Salem rolls past Timberlane

Salem cruised past Timberlane at home 50-38 on Tuesday night. The win put a halt to the Blue Devils six-game losing streak.

Ryan Morse scored a game-high 21 points for the Blue Devils, while Zack Sangermano added 18. 

With the win, Salem stops their skid and improves to 5-6 on the season, while Timberlane falls to 0-11.
