Fourth-quarter fire power sends Gilford to quarters

GILFORD, NH – Gilford’s 22-point fourth quarter helped put away visiting White Mountains, 57-46, in first round action of the NHIAA Division III state tournament on Tuesday night.

The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles welcomed the No. 13 Spartans to town for their second matchup of the season, the prior matchup being a 70-55 win for Gilford.

The Golden Eagles were paced by a game-high 17 points from Henry Sleeper, while Owen Hawkins added 10 of his own.

Tommaso Paluello tallied 14 for WMRHS.

Gilford advances to the second round and will take on No. 3 Kearsarge on Friday.

WMRHS finishes its season with an 8-11 record, while Gilford improves to 14-5.

White Mountains downs Prospect Mountain

ALTON, NH – White Mountains close out the regular season with a 77-59 win over Prospect Mountain on Friday night. 

Spartan duo Kasen Smith (27) and Tommaso Paluello (19) combined for 46 in the win, while Aiden Whipple added 11. 

Freshman Colby Whitehouse tied his career-high with 30 points for the Timberwolves, with running-mate Jacob Luscomb adding 12. 

Both teams finish the regular-season with 8-9 records.

Division IV Groveton sweeps D-III White Mountains

GROVETON, NH – Division IV Groveton swept D-III White Mountains on Monday night. The Eagle girls were victorious 65-60, while the boys won 47-28. 

On the girls side, Delaney Whiting led all scorers with a game-high 18 points for the Eagles with Makalyn Kenison (11 points) and Mylee Kenison (10) both adding double digits. Olivia Lorenz led the Spartans with nine points.

With the win, Groveton improves to 11-1 on the season, while WMRHS falls to 8-5.

On the boys side, Ashton Kenison poured in a game-high 26 points and Hunter Parks added 21 to lead the Eagles to the win. The Spartans were paced by 14 points apiece from Tommaso Paluello and Aiden Whipple and 13 from Kasen Smith. 

Groveton moves to 9-4 with the win and White Mountains falls to 5-7.

White Mountains hands Colebrook first loss of the season

COLEBROOK, NH – Division III White Mountains held D-IV Colebrook to just 10 points in the second and third quarters combined to hand the host Mohawks their first loss of the season, 51-35, on Monday night.

MacKenzie Foss led all scorers with a game-high 19 points for the Spartans and teammate Emma Simpson added 13. The Mohawks were paced by 16 points from Haley Rossitto and 10 by Lexi Santamaria.

With the win, WMRHS improves to 6-4 on the season. Colebrook suffers its first loss and falls to 9-1.

Second-half comeback leads White Mountains past Colebrook

COLEBROOK, NH – White Mountains trailed by three at the half, but outscored host Colebrook by eight in the second half to come away with a 63-58 road win on Monday night.

The Spartans were led by 18 points from Kasen Smith and 17 from Aiden Whipple. The Mohawks were paced by a game-high 24 points from Dart Caulier and 18 from Jackson Weir.

With the win, Division III WMRHS evens its record at 5-5, while D-IV Colebrook falls to 4-6.

White Mountains downs Winnisquam

WHITEFIELD, NH – White Mountains defended its home floor with a 60-48 win against Winnisquam on Friday night.

Kasen Smith led the way for the Spartans with 24 points, including three triples. Aiden Whipple also had a big game, adding 21 points.

The Bears were led by a trio of double digit scorers: Carter Lloyd (13 points), Ethan Poole (12) and Jacob Twombly (11).

With the loss, Winnisquam falls to 0-8, while White Mountains moves to 4-5 with the victory.

Third quarter flurry leads Littleton past White Mountains

LITTLETON, NH – Littleton exploded for 27 third-quarter points en route to a 67-45 win against visiting White Mountains on Tuesday night.

Sam Reagey led all scorers with 19 points, including four from downtown. Daven Reagey also added 16 for the Crusaders.

Tomasso Paleullo, Kasen Smith and Aiden Whipple all scored 12 points for WMRHS.

Littleton jumps to 7-1, while the Spartans drop to 3-5.

White Mountains flys past Inter-Lakes

MEREDITH, NH – White Mountains scored 26 opening quarter points and flew past host Inter-Lakes, 92-59, on Friday night.

Kasen Smith led all scorers, tying his season high 31 points for the Spartans. Aiden Whipple (19), Shayne Ferrill (13) and George Walsh (12) also scored in double digits for WMRHS.

The Lakers were led by Riley Maher’s 18 points and Jake Ambrose added 14, including four three pointers.

The Spartans pick up their third win, improving to 3-4, while Inter-Lakes drops to 2-5.

Groveton knocks off D-III White Mountains

WHITEFIELD, NH – Groveton attacked White Mountains and came away with a 52-62 victory on Tuesday night.

The Eagles did all their work inside the arc, connecting on 24 two-point field goals and went 14-23 from the line, to come away with the win.

Groveton was led by Ashton Kenison who poured in 24 points. They also got 15 points from Hunter Parks.

The Spartans were paced by Aiden Whipple with 13, he did a lot of his damage late with 6 fourth quarter points.

With the win, Groveton moves to 3-2 on the season. White Mountains is now 3-4 following the loss.

D-IV Groveton remains perfect, downs D-III White Mountains

Whitefield, NH – The Groveton Eagles continued their undefeated campaign moving to 6-0, picking up a 50-44 victory on the road against White Mountains.

Groveton was led by Aspen Clermont with 21 points. She was joined in double-digits by Makailyn Kenison who contributed 20 points of her own.

For the Spartans, it was Harper Rowe who led the way with 15. Olivia Lorenz added 13 points as well. White Mountains falls to 3-3 on the season.
