Groveton sweeps Pittsburg-Canaan

GROVETON, NH – North Country foes squared off on Monday night and Groveton completed the sweep of visiting Pittsburg-Canaan. The Eagle girls won 48-38 and the boys were victorious 50-41.

Norwich dominates the paint, hands Rivier first league loss

NASHUA, NH – Norwich out rebounded host Rivier 42-20 and scored 36 points in the paint to hand the Red Raiders a 77-63 defeat on Thursday night.

Joey Merrill led the way for Riv with a team-high 22 points, while Matt Constant (Laconia) added 16. Goffstown’s Rob Baguidy chipped in with seven points and six assists as well for the Raiders.

With the loss, the Raiders fall to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. Norwich improves to 11-3 and 2-1 in the GNAC.

Defense leads UNH past UMBC for first league win

DURHAM, NH – The University of New Hampshire put the clamps on visiting UMBC in the first half on Thursday night, allowing just 12 points in the first 20 minutes, to come away with a 56-39 victory. 

The Wildcats were paced by a game-high 24 points from sophomore guard Eva DeChent. Senior forward Belen Morales Lopez (13 points) and sophomore guard Maggie Cavanaugh (11) added double-digits for UNH as well.

With the win, the Wildcats notch their first America East Conference win of the season and improve to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Retrievers fall to 7-8 and 0-3 in conference action.

Bedford starts strong, wins at Exeter

EXETER, NH – Visiting Bedford jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first half at Epping and won by that margin, 72-58, on Thursday night.

Logan O’Connell led the Bulldogs with a team-high 22 points, while Connor O’Rourke added 15 and Landon Ellsmore and Jack Hinton chipped in with 10 points apiece.

The Blue Hawks were paced by a game-high 24 points from Nate McNeff and 11 from Tyler Ream. 

With the win, Bedford improves to 6-2 on the season, while Exeter falls to 5-3.

Exeter downs Nashua North

EXETER, NH – The Exeter Blue Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season with a 59-51 victory over visiting Nashua North on Tuesday night.

Emma Gillis led the way for Exeter with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Karli Scherpf (14), Lexy Rogers (12) and Anna McGuinness (10) also netted double-digits.

With the win, Exeter has now won back-to-back games and four of its last five. The Titans have a two-game win streak halted and fall to 2-4.

Gilford survives close contest with Hopkinton

GILFORD – Host Gilford took a 10-point lead to the 4th quarter and hung for a 50-46 victory over visiting Hopkinton on Tuesday night.

Brendan Baldi and Mark Uicker both needed 13 points apiece to pace the Golden Eagles, while Cooper Perkins added 10.

Hopkinton was led by four players with seven points each: Noah Aframe, Kristof Cauley, Chase Lawler and Ben Normand.

With the win, Gilford improves to 7-1 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 4-3.

Faustin’s free throws send Profile past Colebrook

BETHLEHEM, NH – With six seconds left, Profile’s Daryion Faustin drained two clutch free throws to sneak the Patriots past visiting Colebrook, 50-48, on Wednesday night.

Cayden Wakeham led all Profile scorers with 22 points, with Faustin scoring a season-high 15, including four from beyond the arc.

The Mohawks were led by 26 points from Jackson Weir, with Dart Caulier adding 10 of his own.

With the win, Profile improves to 3-5. Colebrook drops to 3-5.
