PCA survives scare from Pittsburg-Canaan in first round

DOVER, NH – No. 6 Portsmouth Christian earned a 40-39 come-from-behind victory over No. 11 Pittsburg-Canaan in Division IV first round action on Tuesday night.

The Yellow Jackets led 23-19 going into the break, but were outscored 21-16 by the hosts in the second half.

Trailing by one, 39-38, with 38 seconds remaining, Ava Buchanan knocked down a pair of free throws to give PCA the lead for good.

For the Eagles, Zuri Petlick led the way with a game-high 17 points, including a pair of three pointers in the final quarter.

On the Yellow Jackets side, Janessa Hodge scored 12, while Sienna Grondin added 10 of her own.

PCA will travel north to face No. 3 Groveton in quarterfinal action on Friday night.

Pittsburg-Canaan closes out their season with an 11-8 record.

Unbeaten CCA downs Pittsburg-Canaan in first round action

CONCORD, NH – No. 2 Concord Christian used a 22-point fourth quarter to defeat No. 15 Pittsburg-Canaan 68-57 in Division IV first round action on Monday night. 

The host went into the half leading 34-31 after a 21-point second-quarter from the visiting Yellow Jackets.

The lead would balloon to seven after the third and then Luke Farland (8 points) and Logan Duffy (7) would combine for 15 in the final frame for the Kingsmen. 

Farland would finish with a team-high 15 points, while TJ Charbono added 14 and Duffy tallied 13. 

Daemon Jaimes would finish with a game-high 26 points on the Yellow Jackets side, with Joey Cristoforo (13) and Austin Owen (12) rounding out the double-digit scoring. 

Concord Christian will host No. 7 Groveton in quarterfinal action on Thursday night, while Pittsburg-Canaan finishes their year with an 8-11 record.

Pittsburg-Canaan eases past Lisbon in regular-season finale

CANAAN, VT – Alyvia Jaimes poured in 23 points to lead Pittsburg-Canaan to a 54-22 victory over visiting Lisbon on Wednesday night.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Panthers 19-4 in the first quarter of action and never looked back.

Sienna Grondin added 12 for Pittsburg-Canaan as the Yellow Jackets finish the regular season with an 11-7 mark.

Bailey Clark paced Lisbon with 10. The Panthers season comes to a close at 1-17.

Woodsville sweeps Pittsburg-Canaan, Engineer boys move to 18-0

WOODSVILLE, NH – Woodsville boys and girls ended their regular-seasons on a high note with a sweep over visiting Pittsburg-Canaan on Tuesday night.

On the boys side, the Engineers completed their undefeated regular season with a 77-64 win.

Landon Kingsbury paced the scoring with a team-high 25 points, while Cowan Kimball added 18 and Ryan Walker added 10 of his own.

Daemon Jaimes drilled nine from downtown on his way to a game-high 33 points, while Joey Cristoforo added 15 for the Yellow-Jackets.

Woodsville finishes the regular season at 18-0 and will be the top seed for the upcoming Division IV state tournament. Pittsburg-Canaan falls to 8-11 and awaits its seeding.

On the girls side, the Engineers picked up a 42-32 win.

Makayla Walker scored a team-high 12 points, while Katie Houston (11) and Paige Royer (10) rounded out the double-digit scoring.

Paige Robinson scored nine to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Woodsville finish their regular-season at 11-7, while Pittsburg-Canaan drops to 10-7.

Pittsburg-Canaan controls Colebrook

COLEBROOK, NH – Pittsburg-Canaan picks its third win in a row with a 63-45 victory at Colebrook on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets were up 19-10 after one quarter and maintained a steady lead all game. 

Paige Robinson poured in 23 points with five three-pointers for the Yellow Jackets. Alyvia Jaimes scored 16 as well and Sienna Grondin chipped in for 11 points. Pittsburg-Canaan moves to 10-6 on the season with the win. 

Colebrook’s leading scorer was Lexi Santamaria with 15 points. Sam Samson also scored double digit points with 11. They fall to 11-6 with the loss.

Fourth-quarter flurry sends Pittsburg-Canaan past Colebrook

COLEBROOK, NH – A fourth quarter comeback fueled Pittsburg-Canaan’s win on the road against Colebrook, 58-47, on Friday night. 

This one was close throughout. Pittsburg-Canaan faced a two-point deficit at the half, and a three-point deficit at the end of the third. However a 23-9 fourth quarter put them over the top for the win.  

Daemon James had a big game for the Yellow Jackets with 25 points. Drew Pettit added 17 and Joey Christoforo had 11 points as well. Pittsburg-Canaan moves to 8-9 on the season with the win. 

Dart Caulier was the leading scorer for Colebrook with 14 points. Bryson Fogg added 12. Colebrook’s winning streak ends at three games and the Mohawks are now 7-10 on the season.

Gorham puts the clamps on Pittsburg-Canaan

GORHAM, NH – Gorham allowed just 12 second-half points to defeat visiting Pittsburg-Canaan, 63-34, on Wednesday night.

The Huskies led 30-22 at the half, but then ratcheting things up on the defense end to win the second half 33-12 and cruise to the win.

Gorham was led by 19 points from Max Grondin, 15 from Isaac Langlois and 14 from Jack Saladino. The Yellow Jackets were paced by 17 points from Daemon Jaimes and 11 by Joe Cristoforo.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-6. PC drops to 7-9.

Pittsburg-Canaan cruises past Gorham

GORHAM, NH – Pittsburg-Canaan went on the road and eased past Gorham, 49-29, on Wednesday night.

Alyvia Jaimes led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and Paige Robinson added 13.

Chaise Wade netted 10 points for the Huskies.

With the win, PC improves to 9-6 on the season, while Gorham falls to 5-11.

Pittsburg-Canaan sweeps visiting Moultonborough

PITTSBURG, NH – Pittsburg-Canaan pulled off the sweep over Moultonborough on Monday night as the Yellow Jacket girls were victorious 59-41 and the boys won 46-43.

On the girls side, Alyvia Jaimes (18 points), Sienna Grondin (13) and Janessa Hodge (12) all netted double-digits for PC, while the Panthers were led by 12 points from Alicia Johnson.

With the win, Pittsburg-Canaan improves to 8-6 on the season, while Moulborough falls to 9-6.

For the boys, a 20-points second quarter propelled the Yellow Jackets to the victory as they move to 7-8. The Panthers fall to 6-9.

Joey Cristoforo led PC with 17 points. Brodie Bacon poured in a game-high 21 points for Moultonborough.

Littleton completes sweep of Pittsburg-Canaan

LITTLETON, NH – The Crusaders completed the sweep of visiting Pittsburg-Canaan on Monday night as the Littleton girls were victorious 46-37 and the boys won 75-47.

On the girls side, Addison Pilgrim led the Crusaders with 13 points, while Leah Poulton (12 points) and Addison Hadlock (10) both netted double-digits as well. The Yellow Jackets were paced by a game-high 16 points from Alyvia James and 12 from Paige Robinson.

With the win, Littleton remains perfect with a 14-0 mark. Pittsburg-Canaan falls to 7-6.

The Crusader boys used a 27-8 third quarter to cruise to a 28-point victory. Littleton boasted five players in double figures: Daven Reagey (12 points), Sam Reagey (12), Marcus Hampson (11), Logan Poulton (10), Connor Roy (10)

Joey Cristoforio netted a game-high 16 points for the Yellow Jackets, with Drew Pettit and Daemon Jaimes adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.

With the win, Littleton improves to 13-1 on the season, while Pittsburg-Canaan falls to 6-8.
