Engineers roll past visiting Mohawks

Woodsville handed Colebrook their fourth-straight loss on the season as the Engineers rolled to a 63-44 victory at home on Thursday night.

Landon Kingsbury paced Woodsville with 19 points, while Ryan Walker added 12 and Jack Boudreault had 11. Kolten Dowse scored 19 as well for the Mohawks.

With the win, the Engineers improve to 6-2 on the season, while Colebrook falls to 4-4

Gorham comes-from-behind to beat Colebrook

Colebrook jumped out to a 16-9 lead through the opening quarter of play, but host Gorham battled back to earn a 58-50 victory on Wednesday night.

Leading the way for the Huskies was Isaac Langlois (19) and Brendan Saladino (15), while the Mohawks were paced by a game-high 29 points from Kolten Dowse and 14 from Keenan Hurlbert.

With the win, Gorham improves to 4-3 on the season, while Colebrook has now dropped back-to-back outings and falls to 4-2.

Colebrook earns OT win at Gorham

Host Gorham erased an 8-point halftime deficit to force overtime, but visiting Colebrook was able to pull out the victory in the extra session, 66-63.

The Mohawks were led by a trio of double-digit scorers: Niomie Nadeau (24 points), Haley Rossitto (21) and Sammy Kuhn (11). The Huskies were paced by a game-high 32 points from Sarah Godin and 10 apiece from Lily Gorban and Madison Girouard.

With the win, Colebrook improves to 4-2 on the season, while Gorham falls to 2-5.

Colebrook comes back to win at Newmarket

Newmarket led for the first three quarters of play, but when the final buzzer sounded, visiting Colebrook pulled off the come-from-behind win, 50-47, on Friday night.

Making the three-hour trip south, the Mohawks started slow out the gate. The Mules led by four after one, by 11 at the half and 8 after three quarters before outscoring the hosts 13-2 in the final frame to come away with the win.

Kolten Dowse led Colebrook with 20 points, while Jackson Weird (12 points) and Keenan Hurlbert (11) both chipped in with double digits. Newmarket was paced by Parker Sweitzer’s game-high 25 points and Jaron Labranche added 11.

Colebrook remains unbeaten on the season (3-0), while Newmarket falls to 2-2.

Mules stretch win streak to four with win over Colebrook

Newmarket held visiting Colebrook to just 10 first half points en route to a 38-30 victory on Friday night.

The Mules opened the game up with a 12-3 first quarter and took a 17-10 lead to the break. The Mohawks chipped into the lead in the second half, but Newmarket hung on for the win.

Kiara Rugora led all scorers with a game-high 19 points for the Mules, while the Mohawks were paced by 15 from Lexi Santamaria and 10 from Haylee Rossitto.

Newmarket has now won four straight and improves to 4-1 on the season and Colebrook falls to 2-1.

Colebrook crowned champs

Second-seeded Colebrook defeated top-ranked Groveton, 47-44, to capture the 2023 NHIAA Division IV Girls Basketball State Championship on Sunday afternoon at Colby-Sawyer College in New London.

The Mohawks were led by Ariana Lord (12 points), Emma McKeage (11) and Haley Rossitto. Delaney Whiting paced the Eagles with a game-high 16 points on 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Marissa Kenison also added double-figures for Groveton with 12 points.

Division IV Boys Bracket Set

The field is set for the 2023 NHIAA Boys Basketball Division IV State Tournament.

The 17-team tourney gets underway on Friday as #17 Franklin heads to #16 Gorham for a play-in game at 7:00 pm. The winner of that game will face top-seeded Littleton in first-round action, which takes place on Monday.
