Bedford starts strong, wins at Exeter

EXETER, NH – Visiting Bedford jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first half at Epping and won by that margin, 72-58, on Thursday night.

Logan O’Connell led the Bulldogs with a team-high 22 points, while Connor O’Rourke added 15 and Landon Ellsmore and Jack Hinton chipped in with 10 points apiece.

The Blue Hawks were paced by a game-high 24 points from Nate McNeff and 11 from Tyler Ream. 

With the win, Bedford improves to 6-2 on the season, while Exeter falls to 5-3.

Exeter downs Nashua North

EXETER, NH – The Exeter Blue Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season with a 59-51 victory over visiting Nashua North on Tuesday night.

Emma Gillis led the way for Exeter with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Karli Scherpf (14), Lexy Rogers (12) and Anna McGuinness (10) also netted double-digits.

With the win, Exeter has now won back-to-back games and four of its last five. The Titans have a two-game win streak halted and fall to 2-4.

Portsmouth downs rival Exeter unbeaten match-up

PORTSMOUTH, NH – The Friday before Christmas break featured a battle between two undefeated Division I teams and Portsmouth emerged victorious, earning a 57-50 win against visiting Exeter.

The Clippers were led by Derek Swartz and Isaiah Reis, each with 17 points. Ryan Swartz and Finn McCauley added to the total, netting 10 apiece.

Nate McNeff poured in a game high 21 for the Blue Hawks.

Portsmouth goes into the break 3-0 while Exeter drops to 2-1.

Saint Anselm comes up just short versus Felician

MANCHESTER, NH – Saint Anselm came up just short versus Felician, 75-73, on Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Josh Morissette (Exeter) led all scorers with a game-high 21 points, while Zac Taylor (18) and Erik Oliver-Bush (10) added double-digits as well for the Hawks.

With the loss, St. A’s falls to 6-4 overall, 3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

No. 12 Keene State handles Plymouth State

KEENE, NH – In an intrastate match-up, No. 12 Keene State flexed their Division III muscle with a 93-63 victory over Plymouth State on Wednesday night at Spaulding Gym.

The Owls were led by 23 points from Octavio Brito, while Wesley Odiase (16), Mason Jean Baptiste (11) and Spencer Aronson (10) all netted double-figures as well. The Panthers were paced by 19 points from Torran Bosworth and 15 from Kevin Newton Delgado. Eli Swanson (11) and Kevin Henry (10) also registered double-digits in the scoring column.

With the win, Keene State improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Little East play. PSU falls to 6-3 and 1-2 in LEC action.

Plymouth State downs Salem State, rolls to 5-0

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A 16-point second-half run propelled Plymouth State to a 76-54 victory over Salem State on Saturday afternoon at Foley Gym.

With the win, the Panthers push their season-opening win streak to five and are off to their best start since 2015-16 when the team opened the year with eight-straight victories.

Ivan Yen (Concord) paced PSU with 15 points, while Eli Swanson (Inter-Lakes/Holderness) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Torran Bosworth and Kevin Henry (Exeter) also chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Next up for Plymouth State is a home tilt with 5-1 Rivier on Tuesday at 7:00 pm

Prior to the game, Tony Martinez (Pittsfield) was presented his Little East Conference Hall of Fame ring. The current Belmont head coach is a two-time 1st Team All-LEC pick, tallying 1,556 points and 626 rebounds in his PSU career. He helped lead the Panthers to a pair of LEC regular-season titles and a trip to the ECAC Division III New England Championship.

Plymouth State improves to 4-0 with win over Lasell

PLYMOUTH, NH – The Plymouth State men remained perfect on the season and handed visiting Lasell its first loss of the year as the Panthers defeated the Lasers, 76-66, on Thursday night at Foley Gym.

PSU improves to 4-0 on the season, while Lasell falls to 4-1. The 4-0 record for Plymouth marks its best start since an 8-0 flurry to begin the 2015-16 season.

Kevin Henry (Exeter) continued to lead the Panthers as he pumped in a team-high 21 points, while Torran Bosworth added 17. Eli Swanson (Inter-Lakes/Holderness School) and Ivan Yen (Concord) also chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively for PSU.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday as they play host to Salem State at 1:00 pm. Prior to the game, 2002 PSU grad and current Belmont head coach Tony Martinez (Pittsfield) will be honored as the latest inductee into the Little East Conference Hall of Fame.

Plymouth State men soar past VTSU Johnson

PLYMOUTH, NH – Four Panthers scored in double figures as the Plymouth State men’s basketball team soared past VTSU Johnson, 94-49, on Wednesday night at Foley Gymnasium.

Jayden Montgomery (Nashua North) led all scorers with 17 points, while Kevin Henry (Exeter) and Torran Bosworth each tallied 11 points apiece and Eli Pockette chipped in with 10.

With the win, PSU improves to 2-0 on the season and next hosts New England College on Nov. 19 at 6:00 pm.

Trinity knocks off Exeter, advances to semis

No. 5 Trinity upset No. 4 Exeter, 78-65, on Saturday afternoon in quarterfinal round action of the NHIAA Division I Boys Basketball State Tournament.

The Pioneers advance to the semifinals where they will take on top-seeded Pinkerton on Wednesday at 7:30 pm at Exeter High School

Bedford blows past Exeter to semifinals

Top-seeded Bedford held No. 9 Exeter to just 14 first-half point en route to a 74-32 victory in quarterfinal action of the NHIAA Division I State Tournament on Friday night.

The Bulldogs advance to the semifinals where they will take on No. 4 Portsmouth on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The site for these semifinals is still to be determined.

Bedford was paced a game-high 20 points from Kate Allard and three other Bulldogs in double-digits: Lana McCarthy (13), Mel McCarthy (10) and Megan Muir (10). The Blue Hawks were led by 8 points from Jessica Melick.
